A Nigerian woman has shared a distressing experience in a viral video, alleging that a tricycle driver accosted her while she was on her way to the gym in Awka.
According to her account, the driver reportedly grabbed her hands and refused to let go, leaving her shaken due to a prior robbery incident she had experienced in the same area.
She said she attempted to free herself by pouring water from her bottle on the man, which allegedly escalated the situation.
The woman claimed the driver became aggressive and attempted to assault her, while insisting he was “only playing.”
She further alleged that the man threatened her and fled the scene when she tried to record him.
Following the incident, the woman said she reported the matter to the police in Awka. However, she alleged that after paying a registration fee, she was asked to provide ₦200,000 to “mobilise” officers to take action.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many calling for an investigation into both the alleged assault and the claims of unlawful demands by law enforcement authorities.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
