Sunday Oliseh Names Seven Legends Who Inspired His Love for Super Eagles

Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh has revealed the football legends who made him fall in love with the Super Eagles.

Oliseh was responding to a post from the official X handle of the Super Eagles, which marked the 45th anniversary of Nigeria’s first Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in 1980. The post celebrated Nigeria’s AFCON triumphs in 1980, 1994, and 2013, honoring the players who contributed to the country’s football success.

Reacting to the tribute, Oliseh named Segun Odegbami, Christian Chukwu, Emmanuel Okala, Alloysius Atuegbu, Muda Lawal, Henry Nwosu, and Felix Owolabi (Owo Blow) as the players who inspired him.

“This team was hugely responsible for my love of the Super Eagles’ green-white-green colours: Odegbami, Chukwu, Okala, Atuegbu, Muda Lawal, Nwosu, Owo Blow… They all had technical prowess, strength, and style. Naija sabi do things with style sha!” Oliseh wrote.

His acknowledgment highlights the influence of Nigeria’s football pioneers in shaping future generations of players.
