Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop has expressed deep disappointment and leveled accusations of political manipulation following Rita Daniels’ defeat in the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) presidential election.
Rita Daniels, the mother of actress Regina Daniels, ran against Abubakar Yakubu to succeed outgoing president Emeka Rollas in the election held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Benin, Edo State.
Reacting to the outcome, Stanley Ontop claimed that Daniels would have won had the election not been “hijacked” by external powers. He also regretted that some delegates appeared to prioritize financial gain over the integrity of the association.
He expressed his disappointment online:
“I’m deeply disappointed with the AGN national election outcome. It appears the process was unfair, particularly with regard to Hon Rita Daniels’ candidacy. The alleged influence of a powerful individual in Abuja is concerning… It’s regrettable that some delegates prioritised personal gain over the association’s integrity.
“We hear how much they give to each state delegate… But it’s a shame!!! @rita.daniels06 is my winner! Ontop cares!!!”
