A human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, and Prophet Umueke Miracle, leader of the Dynamic Flame of Fire and Miracle Ministries in Port Harcourt, have engaged in a public challenge over the authenticity of miracles.

Sowore, in a recent interview, dismissed claims of supernatural healing by Nigerian pastors, calling them staged performances meant to deceive followers. He alleged that his father, who suffered a stroke, was a victim of a “fake miracle” when taken to a church for healing.

In response, Prophet Miracle accused Sowore of attacking Christianity and challenged him to bring a stroke-afflicted person to his church for healing. The cleric vowed to shut down his ministry if the person was not healed but insisted that if the person walked again, Sowore must remain silent on television and social media for life.

Sowore accepted the challenge but countered that the pastor should prove his healing abilities by visiting the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital’s stroke ward and curing the patients there.

Attempts by Sunday PUNCH to get Prophet Miracle’s response to Sowore’s counter-challenge were unsuccessful, as a church representative stated that the pastor was unavailable for comments.
