The Anambra State Government has shut down the New Motorcycle Spare Parts Market in Nnewi for failing to comply with the state’s directive mandating markets to open on Mondays.

The decision followed an inspection by government officials, which revealed that many shops in the market remained closed despite an order issued by Governor Charles Soludo. The directive requires all government-owned markets in the state to operate fully on Mondays.

The government announced that the market will remain closed for one week as a penalty for the violation.

The move is part of efforts by the state administration to enforce compliance with its suspension of the long-observed Monday sit-at-home order and to ensure normal economic activities resume across Anambra.
