Opposition coalition member and former Labour Party chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has cast doubt on Peter Obi’s political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Okonkwo said: “The Labour Party has no structure at all. In 2023, we had our structure in the Labour Party, and as of now, we have no structure again. Even the national leadership of the party is an issue. The INEC cannot categorically tell you who they are, nor can anybody.”

He noted Obi has shown support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) but has not declared if he will run on its platform. “You are asking me if I think Peter Obi will run under the Labour Party or not, and he has told you he supports ADC, but he has not told me the party he would run on. I wouldn’t know the answer to that question.”

Okonkwo stressed he could not speak for Obi, saying: “I will not speak for a person I do not understand his stance on important national issues. Now, I do not understand his stand on anything about 2027, so it’s still a mystery that he would break himself.”
