Nigerian artist paints for 82 hours to set new world record

In an attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for the longest painting marathon, Nigerian artist Lola Mewu completed her 82-hour painting marathon.

Mewu painted for 82 hours and some minutes, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, and finishing her marathon at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

Ronald Palmaerts of France now holds the record, having painted for 60 hours in 2013. Lola hopes to surpass him.

If successful, Odumewu would become the third Nigerian to hold a Guinness World Record this year, joining the incredible accomplishments of famous chef Hilda Baci and 17-year-old student Philip Solomon.
