The Federal Government has intensified surveillance at airports, seaports, and land borders following a new Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Akpan Nse, Director of Port Health Services, confirmed that all passengers from or transiting through Congo will undergo mandatory checks.
He assured that more health officers have been deployed with WHO’s support to prevent the virus from entering Nigeria. WHO reported 28 suspected cases and 15 deaths in Kasai Province, with tests confirming the deadly Ebola Zaire strain.
