A man has allegedly set his wife’s shop, valued at about ₦6 million, on fire following a breakdown in their marriage, sparking outrage and fresh conversations about domestic conflict and economic abuse.
According to reports, the incident came after a series of unresolved issues between the couple, including allegations of infidelity. The woman was said to have confronted her husband over repeated acts of unfaithfulness and later expressed her intention to leave the marriage, a decision that reportedly escalated tensions in the home.
Sources claimed the shop, which served as the woman’s primary means of livelihood, was opened for her by the husband during the course of their marriage. However, as disagreements intensified, the business allegedly became a focal point of conflict between them.
The man was said to have accused his wife of cheating, an allegation those close to the situation described as retaliatory following her decision to walk away from the union. Shortly after the dispute, the shop was reportedly set ablaze, destroying goods and equipment estimated to be worth millions of naira.
