A Nigerian man identified as Charles Obinwanne has sparked a new debate online after advising Reno Omokri, the former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, to issue a public apology to President Bola Tinubu before appearing for his ambassadorial screening at the National Assembly.
Omokri was recently included in President Tinubu’s list of ambassadorial nominees, a choice that has generated mixed public reactions due to his history of strong criticism against the President.
Obinwanne shared his advice on Facebook, warning Omokri that he might face an embarrassing moment if he attends the screening without first addressing his past criticisms of President Tinubu.
In his post, Obinwanne stressed that Omokri had made many harsh comments over the years that could be used against him by the Senate panel.
“Apologise Before Your Screening”
Obinwanne wrote that it was “only proper” for Omokri to apologize before meeting the Senate panel, stating that past remarks could complicate the process.
He went on to criticize Omokri’s public conduct, suggesting it showed inconsistency and a lack of integrity, as Omokri often spoke only when it served his personal interest.
His message ended with a scathing remark:
“even the devil won’t eat in the same plate with you,” a line which has drawn wide reactions online.
