Nigerian singer Jodie recently opened up in an interview about her experiences as a single mother and the challenges of raising her son, who has special needs.
The singer parted ways with her actor husband, David Nnaji, when their child was only two months old.
During her appearance on Yanga 89.9FM, Jodie was asked about the earnings from her popular track, “Kuchi Kuchi.” She revealed that despite the song’s popularity, she did not earn any money from it. Jodie explained that she had personally funded the recording of the track and had not received any financial benefit.
She added that she attempted to claim royalties, even hiring a lawyer, but her efforts proved unsuccessful. Jodie also accused her ex-husband, who recently had another child, of receiving all the royalties from the song.
The singer shared that her marriage ended because her ex-husband claimed she was mentally unstable. She reflected on the irony that he left their son with her despite labeling her as such.
Jodie acknowledged that raising a child with special needs comes with its challenges, but she expressed gratitude to God and described her journey as full of highs and lows.
In the interview, she also mentioned that she was a shy person when she first recorded “Kuchi Kuchi” but has grown into a confident and strong woman.
A few years ago, Jodie had also urged the public not to harass her ex-husband online, noting that he had moved on with his life.
