The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed that the state’s Chief Judge has received and formally acknowledged official letters detailing allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu.

The confirmation came in a statement by the Assembly’s spokesperson and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Hon. Dr. Enemi Alabo George, who noted that all relevant documents, including notices of the allegations, were attached to the correspondence.

Enemi confirmed that the notice has been received and acknowledged.

The development follows last Friday’s plenary session, during which lawmakers reiterated their intention to proceed with the impeachment process, citing Section 188(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which empowers the Assembly to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against a sitting governor and deputy governor.
