Apostle Arome Osayi has sparked widespread debate online after declaring that anyone aged 21 or above who has never spoken in tongues continuously for six hours is “living a joke.”
The statement, made during a recent sermon, quickly drew mixed reactions across social media. According to the cleric, speaking in tongues is a critical spiritual discipline that reflects growth, alignment with God’s purpose, and life breakthrough.
He urged young Christians to take the practice seriously, warning that neglecting it could affect their destiny.
While some viewed his remarks as a call to deeper spiritual commitment, others criticised them as extreme and discouraging. Many argued that speaking in tongues, though important to some believers, should not be used as a measure of success or spiritual worth.
Social media users reacted sharply to the comment.
One user wrote, “So speaking in tongues now guarantees making it in life??? Naaah this Pastor is actually a joke!”
Another added, “Speaking in tongues is not the license to heaven.”
Others responded with sarcasm, with a user joking, “21 without other tongues? Your destiny na pure comedy show!”
