The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has spoken about sacrifices he made after answering the call to ministry, dismissing claims that pastors go into church work for financial gain.
Speaking during a church programme, Pastor Adeboye revealed that someone once gave him three Mercedes-Benz cars in a single day, but he did not use them. He said moments like that remind him of the career and opportunities he left behind to become a pastor.
Reacting to criticisms that pastors are motivated by money, the cleric said he hopes God forgives those who hold such views, stressing that he is fully aware of the professional path he abandoned to serve in ministry.
According to him, becoming a pastor was a deliberate choice rooted in obedience to God rather than the pursuit of wealth.
