Celebrity chef Hilda Baci, with the support of her mother, has launched her Guinness World Record attempt to prepare the largest pot of jollof rice ever recorded.
Baci, who first gained international attention in 2023 for setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, began this ambitious culinary feat amid enthusiastic cheers from fans and well-wishers. The event, hosted at a specially designated venue in Lagos, celebrates not only culinary expertise but also African culture, unity, and heritage.
As the cooking commenced, Hilda’s mother was seen offering prayers for her daughter’s success, seeking strength, endurance, and safety throughout the record attempt. This touching moment drew emotional responses from the crowd, many praising her as a central figure in Hilda’s journey.
“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! 🫧✨ I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself 💚. In just a few hours, this same pot will hold thousands of servings of Nigerian jollof history in the making,” Hilda captioned in a video shared with her followers.

The chef is using a specially crafted 22,619-litre pot, approximately six meters in diameter, designed to serve around 10,000 people.
The Lagos-based event combines a culinary spectacle with community support. Baci plans to use 250 bags of rice in the enormous pot, filling it to about 80% of its capacity.
Beyond the record attempt, the cooked jollof rice will be served to attendees and donated to charitable organizations, ensuring the event benefits the wider community.
