Portable remains in custody after failing to get bail over assault and theft charges. His friend Kolu’s emotional plea divided social media, while Carter shut down calls for support.
Controversial singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, is still in police custody after being arrested by the Ogun State Police over a New Year’s Day incident at his bar.
The singer is facing several charges, including assaulting his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, attacking a police inspector, stealing a ₦12 million Mercedes-Benz, and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Federal High Court in Ota on Monday, but his bail request was denied because the assaulted officer was not in court.
Portable has been remanded in custody and is expected to remain there until January 19, when the case will continue.
The situation caused more drama online after his associate, Kolu, went live on social media, openly showing support for the singer. Kolu praised Portable for bringing him to Lagos and changing his life, while also asking for financial help and hinting he might sell personal items to raise money.
His actions sparked mixed reactions, with some fans applauding his loyalty and others mocking the livestream.
Adding to the drama, Carter, who has a past dispute with Portable over an almost ₦10 million music deal, warned Kolu to stop asking him for money.
