Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Chief Executive Officer of Seahorse Oil, has emerged as the Akpoazaa Group Man of the Month for January 2026, after securing over 50 per cent of the total votes cast, ahead of the other two nominees in a keenly contested public voting process conducted on Facebook.
The recognition, which marks the first Man of the Month award for 2026 and the first following the rebranding of Akpoazaa Group, was determined by open public participation and aimed at identifying a true Champion of Humanity.
Speaking on the outcome, the Group Managing Director of Akpoazaa Group, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, said the result reflected the collective judgment of the public.
“This recognition goes beyond business success. Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo emerged winner because he earned over half of the total votes cast against two other distinguished nominees, showing clear public confidence in his values, character, and commitment to humanity,” Igbojindu stated.
He explained that the initiative was deliberately people-driven.
“The Man of the Month platform allows the public to speak. In this case, the people spoke clearly. Dr. Onunkwo’s consistent support for education, youth empowerment, and assistance to widows and vulnerable families resonated strongly with voters,” he added.
Dr. Igbojindu further noted the symbolic importance of the award.
“As Akpoazaa Group enters a new era after our rebranding, it is significant that the first Man of the Month for 2026 is someone whose life exemplifies service, compassion, and impact. Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo truly represents a champion of humanity,” he said.
Dr. Onunkwo is widely recognised for his philanthropic engagements, particularly in education support, community welfare initiatives, youth development, and humanitarian assistance, often carried out quietly without public attention.
