A member of the Obidient movement, Justin Ijeh, has called on Bola Tinubu to rein in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is coming after the ‘assassination attempt on former Labour Party presidential, Peter Obi, and other members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Benin, Edo State capital.

Ijeh made this call on Wednesday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television.

Earlier, it reported that there was an ass@ssination attempt on the former Anambra State governor and other notable stalwarts of the ADC on Tuesday.

Ijeh said, “The recent premeditated attack in Benin, following similar incidents, represents an unacceptable escalation. This event, where thugs assaulted a private party and destroyed property, mirrors an earlier attack in Lagos.

“This pattern is particularly concerning given Governor Monday Okpebholo’s past threats against Mr Peter Obi regarding his security in Edo State.

“This progression from rhetoric to physical violence directly undermines democracy and Nigerians’ right to free association, even though no one was physically harmed in this specific incident.

“We urge you Mr President to address this vicarious liability, as the Constitution holds you responsible for the security and welfare of Nigerians.

“A thorough investigation into this incident is demanded, ideally by an independent panel, given the local police’s potential limitations.

“Furthermore, we call on you Mr President to personally condemn this violence, as you lead the party whose members have been implicated in spreading thuggery. This is crucial to prevent a further descent into political violence, which is contrary to the nation’s aspirations. Call members of the APC to order.”
