Nigerian content creator and advocate for people with disabilities, Dorathy Osaronu, has shared her heartfelt reaction to a viral video showing her being assisted off a plane.
The video, showed at least five male airline staff helping Dorathy navigate the narrow passageway to exit the aircraft, highlighting the extra care needed for passengers with zero mobility.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Dorathy described the experience as unforgettable, noting that flying for her isn’t just a journey but a challenge that “requires trust, vulnerability, and courage.”
“Two days ago, I experienced something I’ll never forget… not because it was easy, but because it showed me what true humanity looks like.
As someone with zero mobility, flying isn’t just a journey for me. It’s a challenge, one that requires trust, vulnerability, and courage.
There I was, unable to move on my own, completely dependent on strangers… and yet, in that moment, I wasn’t made to feel helpless.
I was lifted with care. Spoken to with kindness and treated with dignity. No rush. No frustration. Just patience, respect, and genuine compassion.”
Dorathy expressed that the assistance she received reminded her that she belongs in the world “exactly as I am.”
“To those who helped me, you didn’t just move me from one place to another… You reminded me that I still belong in this world exactly as I am. God bless Air Peace.”
Her post has since sparked conversations online about accessibility, empathy, and the importance of humane treatment for people with disabilities during travel.
