Grammy-nominated Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has made it clear that he has no intention of switching to Western-style sounds in a bid to gain more global appeal.

The Afrobeats singer shared this during a chat on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show hosted by Eddie Kadi, where he reflected on his growth and achievements in the music industry.

Speaking about his career journey, Davido noted that he has already reached significant milestones, including performing on major stages worldwide and earning multiple Grammy nominations over the past three years.

According to him, he is now at a stage where he feels fulfilled with his accomplishments and is more focused on staying true to his identity by creating authentic African music. He also hinted that fans should expect a new phase in his career that strongly reflects his roots.

He said, “This part of my career, I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, I have been to three Grammys in the last three years. The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African. We have done it so I am not really looking to really do western sounds.”

Davido also highlighted the strong support he receives from fans in South Africa, claiming that a large portion of the population is familiar with and enjoys his music.

Over the years, the singer has worked with a number of South African artists and has earned several certifications within the country’s music industry.
