At least 14 Nigerian soldiers were reportedly killed in a violent attack in Plateau State, reigniting concerns over insecurity in the region. According to social media commentator D English Alhaji, the soldiers’ bodies were mutilated, and some may have been attacked while still alive.

He reported, “Yesterday In Wase, Plateau State, At Least 14 Nigerian Soldiers Were Killed, And Their Bodies Mutilated. Some Reports Indicate They Were Mutilated While Still Alive, Then Burnt Beyond Recognition, With Identification Only Possible Through Their ID Cards.”

The alleged attack has drawn widespread condemnation online, highlighting the persistent security challenges faced by military personnel in parts of northern Nigeria. Plateau State has experienced repeated clashes between armed groups and security forces, often leaving both civilians and soldiers vulnerable.

While details about the assailants remain unclear, the incident underscores the risks soldiers face while deployed to conflict-prone areas. Authorities have yet to release an official statement confirming the attack or providing updates on security operations in Wase.
