Controversial Nigerian content creator Njideka Achilonu, popularly known as Deka George, has shared the painful story of losing her elder sister, Amaka, who reportedly passed away after developing complications during childbirth.
The social media personality revealed the tragic news in an emotional post on her TikTok page, where she expressed deep sorrow and regret over missing several phone calls from her sister shortly before her death.
According to Deka, she was in Lagos at the time attending court hearings linked to a legal case she has been dealing with since 2025. The case reportedly followed her arrest after a dispute with a hair vendor whom she had publicly accused online while demanding a refund.
Deka explained that while she was moving between different court sessions, her sister attempted to reach her by phone, but she was unable to answer.
The influencer said the missed calls now weigh heavily on her, as she feels she might have been able to assist her sister if she had responded in time.
Sharing her grief, she wrote that life can change in an instant and suggested that the situation might have turned out differently if she had not been occupied with court proceedings in Lagos. She recalled being moved from the Magistrate Court to the Federal High Court while trying to defend herself, which caused her to miss the calls.
Alongside the emotional message, Deka posted an old video capturing moments she shared with Amaka over the years, reflecting on their close relationship before the tragic loss.
She also criticised the hospital where her sister was treated, alleging that the facility did not have oxygen available at the time something she believes could have helped save Amaka’s life.
In a heartfelt apology to her late sister, Deka said she wished she could turn back time so she could have been by her side in Abuja.
She added that the situation left her feeling as though both she and the country had failed her sister.
