“Getting Older Doesn’t Make You Wiser”- ID Cabasa Sparks Debate

Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa recently shook up a common belief: that getting older automatically makes you wiser.

He made it clear that he’s not saying older people aren’t smart or capable. Rather, he pointed out that most of the time, people confuse experience with wisdom. Just because someone has lived longer doesn’t mean they make better decisions it just means they’ve seen more.

His Words:

“The assumption that the older you get, the wiser you are is an assumption that has never been true. I am not saying older people are not wise or smart. Most times people see themselves as wiser because they’re more experienced not competent”drawing a sharp line between living through situations and actually learning from them.

It’s a reminder for all of us not to assume that age equals insight. Wisdom isn’t just about counting years; it’s about how we think, the choices we make, and how we handle life’s challenges.

ID Cabasa’s words make you pause and ask: are we really learning from our experiences, or are we just letting time pass and calling it wisdom?
