Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticised billionaire entrepreneur Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly called Obi Cubana, following a video the businessman shared online.
The clip, which Obi Cubana posted on Instagram, showed Seyi Tinubu son of President Bola Tinubu paying him a visit at his residence and presenting him with an appointment letter. The video quickly sparked reactions across social media platforms.
Reacting to the post, VeryDarkMan faulted Obi Cubana’s conduct, accusing him of behaving like a subordinate rather than an influential figure. He claimed the businessman appeared uncomfortable and sounded as though he had been pressured into the meeting.
The activist expressed disappointment over the development, stating that he never imagined Obi Cubana would be involved in such an engagement. According to him, the situation was embarrassing and beneath the businessman’s public standing.
VeryDarkMan further alleged that Obi Cubana lacks grassroots political influence, insisting that he would be unable to mobilise votes within his own region. He dismissed the billionaire as an errand runner rather than a power broker.
Addressing ethnic relations, the activist argued that the Igbos’ challenges are not caused by the Yoruba or Hausa ethnic groups, but rather stem from internal issues. He accused Obi Cubana of prioritising personal interests, which he claimed explained the businessman’s silence over the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.
He also pointed out that figures such as Sunday Igboho and Sheikh Gumi are currently free, while Kanu remains in custody. VeryDarkMan urged Obi Cubana to reconsider his choices, emphasising that while political participation is a personal decision, leaders should act in the collective interest of the people.
The activist concluded by claiming that he had previously been cautioned against discussing Nnamdi Kanu on his social media platforms.
