The burial arrangements for late gospel musician Omije Ojumi, also known as Bunmi Akinnaanu, have been officially cancelled.
The development was announced by her colleague, Lanre Alewilese, in a statement shared via Instagram on behalf of the burial planning committee.
According to Alewilese, the decision to suspend all burial activities was taken due to an ongoing crisis within the late singer’s family, which has made it impossible to proceed with the planned ceremonies.
“This is to inform you that all burial plans of our late sister and colleague, Bunmi Akinnaanu, have been cancelled over issues arising within her family. We’re deeply sorry for the inconveniences,” Alewilese stated.
The announcement comes just days after the committee had earlier disclosed that the gospel artiste would be laid to rest on Wednesday, January 20, 2026.
The sudden cancellation has left fans, colleagues, and members of the gospel music community in shock, as preparations were already underway for the final rites.
As of the time of filing this report, no new burial date has been announced, and details of the family dispute have not been made public. Further updates are expected once the issues are resolved.
