The Best Brain Contest, an educational initiative of the Akpoazaa Group, on Monday, January 19, 2026, disbursed all cash rewards to champions and winners of the 2025 BBC Anambra Maths and Igbo Quiz (5th Edition).
The beneficiaries include outstanding students, dedicated teachers, and exemplary schools that emerged winners in both Mathematics and Igbo Language categories across Anambra State.
Founded by renowned education advocate and philanthropist, Dr Frank Igbojindu, PhD, the Best Brain Contest continues to promote academic excellence, preserve indigenous language, and strengthen teachers’ welfare as a foundation for sustainable development.
Speaking during the disbursement, Dr. Igbojindu said:
“Education remains the most powerful tool for shaping the future of any society. At Best Brain Contest, we deliberately reward students, teachers, and schools because excellence is a collective effort that must be encouraged and sustained.”
The 2025 BBC Anambra Quiz for Senior Secondary Schools was held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the ASUBEB Hall Awka, with participation from leading secondary schools across the state.
In the Mathematics category, Obieze Chikaima of Unizik High School Awka emerged overall champion, receiving ₦100,000, a trophy, medal, and appointment as a BBC Ambassador.
Similarly, Ndubuilo Rosemary of Loretto Special Science School Adazinnukwu clinched first position in the Igbo Language category and was rewarded with ₦100,000, a trophy, medal, and BBC Ambassadorial role.
Second and third position winners in both categories received ₦60,000 and ₦40,000 respectively.
Reaffirming the vision behind the competition, Dr. Igbojindu stated:
“Our objective goes beyond competition. We are building confidence in young Nigerians, restoring pride in the Igbo language, and encouraging critical thinking through Mathematics.”
In line with Best Brain Contest’s guiding principles, outstanding student performance automatically translated into rewards for their teachers and schools. Consequently, Unizik High School Awka received ₦100,000 and a trophy for emerging best school in Mathematics, while Loretto Special Science School Adazinnukwu received ₦100,000 and a trophy for excellence in Igbo Language.
Top-performing teachers were equally rewarded. Igboanugo Amaka of Unizik High School Awka received ₦50,000 as the best Mathematics teacher, while Okonkwo Felicia of Loretto Special Science School received ₦50,000 as the best Igbo Language teacher. Other teachers in second and third positions received ₦30,000 and ₦20,000 respectively in each category.
Highlighting the importance of teachers’ welfare, Dr. Igbojindu added:
“You cannot talk about quality education without taking care of the teacher. When teachers are motivated, students excel, and society benefits.”
He further emphasized the long-term vision of the initiative:
“Best Brain Contest is not a one-off event. The 2025 BBC Anambra Quiz is the 5th edition of the program since its inception in year 2021. It is a movement committed to raising a generation of disciplined, intellectually sound, and culturally grounded leaders for Nigeria.”
