Content creator and entertainer Chinonso Ukah, popularly known as Nons Miraj, has shared the reasons behind stepping away from the Ada Jesus character that initially brought her fame.
In a podcast with Taymesan, the skitmaker explained that although the character boosted her popularity, it eventually limited how people perceived her. Nons Miraj felt it was time to evolve and reveal other facets of her personality.
She observed that the Ada Jesus persona attracted a specific audience that no longer aligned with her aspirations. She wanted to connect with a wider audience and create content that reflected more dimensions of herself.
The entertainer also hoped to form personal connections with people who appreciated her beyond her comedy sketches.
“After the whole Ada Jesus thing, I was like, ‘What do I do next?’ because people would tire of seeing me turn others into yam and fish. I got bored too. People started thinking I was old. My followers became older men, so I decided I needed something that would showcase my true appeal,” she said.
“Men were drawn to the Ada Jesus character, but mostly older men. I wanted the fine, younger men to slide into my DMs, spend money, and see if a relationship could happen.”
Her decision to move on was also motivated by a desire to expand her brand and pursue projects beyond the character that made her famous.
Nons Miraj, who hosts The Hunt Game Show, has earned a name for herself in comedy, acting, and digital content creation. Her Ada Jesus skits were celebrated for their humour and memorable performances.
She also opened up about the challenges of being in the public eye, noting that people often focus on big deals without recognizing the effort and responsibilities behind them. Her work involves investing in projects and managing personal commitments, which can be demanding despite outward appearances of success.
