Umuada Okija, a formidable group of proud and visionary women from Okija town in Anambra State, has announced plans to hold its official inauguration on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The historic event is scheduled to take place at St. Mary’s Field, Okija, and is expected to draw a large gathering of sons, daughters, friends of Okija, and distinguished guests from across Anambra State and beyond.

Umuada Okija was founded with a clear and noble mission: the growth, unity, and sustainable development of Okija town. The group brings together women of Okija extraction from different walks of life, united by shared values of service, culture, peacebuilding, and community advancement.

The association was founded by Lady Hope Nkolika Nwenyi (Odiukonamba), who currently serves as the National President. Other members of the pioneering leadership include Odigomma Nwankwo (Adadioramma) as Vice President, Lolo Chidimma Esimoneze as Chairlady, Board of Trustees (BOT), and Chidimma Okwuelu as the National Secretary.

With numerous members scattered across Nigeria and in the diaspora, Umuada Okija has continued to grow in strength and influence, positioning itself as a vital platform for women-led development initiatives and cultural preservation in Okija.

The inauguration ceremony is expected to be graced by the Igwe of Okija, alongside other traditional rulers, community leaders, government officials, and notable dignitaries, underscoring the importance of the occasion to the Okija community.

The January 6 inauguration will formally usher Umuada Okija into active community engagement and mark the beginning of a renewed chapter of women-driven development, unity, and progress for Okija town.
