Isaac Fayose, businessman and younger sibling of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of favoritism by appointing many Yoruba individuals to key government positions.

Fayose made these remarks in a video posted on his Instagram page on February 25, in response to Tunji Disu’s appointment as acting Inspector-General of Police following Kayode Egbetokun’s resignation.

He argued that concentrating power within one ethnic group appears to be a strategy to secure support ahead of the 2027 elections, a move that threatens national unity and leaves other regions feeling marginalized.

Fayose also claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has a history of ethnic bias dating back to Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, disregarding Nigeria’s federal character principle.

He highlighted nine major positions currently held by Yoruba appointees, including the presidency, Chief Justice of Nigeria, EFCC chairman, DSS director-general, Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief of Army Staff, CBN governor, FIRS chairman, and INEC chairman.

According to Fayose, these appointments suggest that loyalty to ethnicity is prioritized over competence.

“If you want to see nepotism, look no further. This administration is full of it. APC is effectively a government of Yoruba by Yorubas. What happened to the federal character principle? Nepotism is everywhere,” he stated.

Fayose also criticised the City Boy Movement a group led by Cubana Chief Priest, Obi Cubana, and other Igbo businessmen who are rallying support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in the Southeast.

He dismissed their efforts as ineffective, pointing out that even those from their own communities in influential positions do not necessarily act in their people’s interest.

“You city boys, jumping up and down in Imo, forget that even your own brothers in power don’t protect your interests. Keep hopping like frogs,” he said.
